We believe that great reporting doesn't just describe the world — it helps readers understand it. Founded in 2019 by a small team of journalists tired of noise and hungry for depth, Meridian was built on a simple conviction: people deserve writing that respects their intelligence.

We are not affiliated with any corporation, political party, or advocacy group. Our editorial decisions are made by our editors, not our advertisers.

What We Cover

Meridian publishes original reporting, long-form features, criticism, and commentary across four core beats:

  • Politics & Power — From city hall to the halls of parliament, we follow decisions that shape daily life.
  • Business & Economy — We trace the money, interrogate the systems, and centre the human stories behind the numbers.
  • Culture & Ideas — Books, film, design, science, and the conversations defining the moment.
  • Dispatches — Ground-level reporting from correspondents around the world.

We don't chase every headline. We chase every angle on the headlines that matter.

Our Principles

Independence. Meridian is reader-funded. We don't carry programmatic advertising and we don't accept sponsored content. Our only obligation is to you.

Transparency. When we make an error, we correct it clearly and without burying the correction. When we have a point of view, we say so.

Depth over speed. We'd rather publish something right than publish something first. Every story goes through rigorous editing before it reaches you.

Accountability. We hold power to account — regardless of which side of the aisle it sits on.

The Team

Meridian is produced by a core editorial team of nine journalists and supported by a network of contributing writers, photographers, and researchers across twelve countries.

Editor-in-Chief — Nadia Voss Nadia has spent twenty years in print and digital journalism, previously at The Wire Post and Frontier Magazine. She founded Meridian after growing frustrated with the economics pushing long-form journalism out of mainstream outlets.

Managing Editor — Daniel Osei Daniel oversees day-to-day editorial operations and has a particular focus on business and political reporting. He was previously Deputy Editor at Capital Weekly.

Head of Visuals — Priya Mehta Priya leads photography, illustration, and data visualisation at Meridian. Her work has appeared in international exhibitions and publications across Europe and South Asia.

How We're Funded

Meridian is sustained entirely by reader subscriptions and a small number of institutional grants from journalism foundations. We publish a transparency report every six months detailing our revenue sources, editorial independence policies, and readership figures.

We are committed to keeping a meaningful portion of our archive free to read. If you can afford a subscription, it directly funds the reporting you value. If you can't, our free tier exists for you.
